The US National Institutes of Health funds partnerships between resource-limited research institutions and NCI-designated cancer centres to strengthen cancer research capacity and train early-stage investigators across the United States. Applications from US universities, non-profits, government agencies and community organisations are due by 25 January 2027, with applications opening on 31 August 2026.

This is a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for a Limited Competition that invites applications from eligible organizations to apply. Please see Section III. Eligibility for additional information. In accordance with NIH standard peer-review processes, the applications will be peer-reviewed, and only meritorious applications will be considered for funding. This funding opportunity seeks to support the Cancer Advancement through Partnerships in Research and Infrastructure (CAPRI). The CAPRI Program establishes and strengthens comprehensive, mutually beneficial and meaningful partnerships between Resource Limited Institutions (RLIs) and NCI-designated Cancer Centers (CCs) to accelerate collaborative and innovative cancer. The Program achieves this by strategically building institutional capacity, advancing research capabilities, enhancing the impact of innovative cancer research, cultivating the next generation of Early-Stage Investigators and trainees, and implementing coordinated outreach and education initiatives that extend the benefits of research to all populations nationwide.
