The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Budapest has opened a second call for applications for the Human Rights Fund 2026. As the first round took place before the Hungarian elections, this second round provides an opportunity to take into account the changed political and institutional context and emerging needs of civil society. The Human Rights Fund (HRF) is an instrument of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands to support civil society activities aimed at achieving tangible and sustainable improvements in the field of human rights.

About the Human Rights Fund 2026

The HRF is meant to

support activities in line with the relevant priorities of the

Dutch human rights policy:

Supporting human

rights defenders;

Equal rights for

LGBTIQ+ persons;

Freedom of

expression, internet freedom and independent journalism;

Equal rights for

women and girls;

The focus of the

proposed project should be on at least one of the priority areas

of Dutch human rights policy mentioned above. In light of the
